Parent Corner

See Um Smile Playhouse is not your average daycare. We’re a large play based childcare center and preschool with a family friendly atmosphere. We have an open-door policy for our families and invite parents to be involved in activities throughout the year. We host numerous events that allow you to engage with your child in a fun atmosphere. We have pumpkin painting with dad, cookie decorating with mom, and a fall fundraising carnival. We also have special holiday events like pictures with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny! Each year we host an end of year program for our 3, 4 and 5 year old classrooms that includes a graduation ceremony for children starting kindergarten. We’re all about fun and engaging experiences for you and your child! We encourage you to browse through our parent resources and photo gallery to see all of the smiling faces.

NUTRITION

We know that good nutrition contributes to effective learning in children. Numerous studies have demonstrated that eating breakfast regularly will boost your child's ability to learn, to think quickly, to pay attention and even to get along with others. One recent study on childhood nutrition found that those who eat breakfast raise their math grades and improve their school attendance records. Children who regularly have breakfast in the morning solve problems more easily and are less likely to be restless or irritable before lunch. Other studies indicate that skipping breakfast has a negative effect on attentiveness, verbal fluency, memory and the brain's ability to make use of new information.

CURRICULUM

Our curriculum provides developmentally-appropriate learning opportunities to encourage children to be confident, successful, life-long learners. The early years are critical to a child’s positive growth and development. During this time children are eager to learn new skills, experience challenging opportunities, and be encouraged for their strengths and talents.

Our knowledgeable teachers use a wide range of techniques to help children learn through play. It may be through guided activities, spontaneous play or children led activities. Our activities, games, and curriculum are all designed to engage your child’s natural curiosity and provide a foundation for a lifelong love of learning. We ensure every child is receiving the creative learning experiences they require and that they are developing intellectually, physically and socially.
